PrepPilot Stealth Mode is designed with privacy at its core. No recordings are saved, no data is sold, and the entire codebase is open source for full transparency.
How Your Data Flows
Audio Capture
PrepPilot captures system audio from your computer. This is the audio output from your video conferencing tool (Zoom, Meet, Teams). The audio is captured in memory only and is never written to disk.
Real-Time Transcription via Deepgram
Audio is streamed in real time to Deepgram's speech-to-text API for transcription. Deepgram processes the audio stream and returns text. According to Deepgram's privacy policy, audio data is not stored or used for training. The stream is ephemeral.
AI Response Generation
The transcribed text is sent to your configured AI model (Claude, GPT, or Gemini) using your own API key. This means the data flows through your account with the AI provider, subject to their privacy terms, not PrepPilot's servers.
Display in Overlay
The AI-generated response is displayed in the floating overlay on your screen. It exists only in your app's memory. When you close the session or the app, all transcription and response data is discarded. Nothing persists.
No Recording, Ever
PrepPilot does not record your interviews. Audio is captured in memory, streamed to Deepgram in real time, and immediately discarded. There is no "save recording" feature and no buffer that retains audio after processing. When Stealth Mode ends, the audio is gone.
Your API Key, Your Data
When you bring your own API key (from Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google), all AI requests go directly from your device to the AI provider under your account. PrepPilot never sees, proxies, or stores your API key on its servers. For users on the free tier with PrepPilot credits, requests are routed through PrepPilot's API but conversation content is not logged or stored.
No Data Sold or Shared
PrepPilot does not sell, share, rent, or monetize your data in any way. There is no advertising. There are no analytics on your interview content. The only data PrepPilot stores is your account information (email, hashed password) and credit balance. Conversation content is never transmitted to PrepPilot servers.
✓ No server-side logging
Transcription text and AI responses are never logged on PrepPilot infrastructure. Everything stays in your local app session.
✓ No training on your data
Your conversations are not used to train any AI model. When using your own API key, the provider's training opt-out applies.
✓ No third-party trackers
The desktop app contains no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. The only network calls are to Deepgram (transcription) and your chosen AI provider.
✓ Minimal data collection
Account creation requires only an email and password. No phone number, no social login tracking, no unnecessary personal information.
Open Source for Transparency
PrepPilot is fully open source. Every line of code, including the Stealth Mode overlay, audio capture pipeline, and API integration, is available for review on GitHub. You do not have to take our word for it. Read the code yourself.
